Decided to stay indoors this bank holiday weekend? That's cool because we have some great tips on how to make your weekend fun, sexy and playful. Did you know that since 2008 there has been an increase in the purchase of luxury lingerie and loungewear?. You would think the opposite is true, right? But women are now going out less, spending more time indoors and spending their money on quality garments that will last. Lingerie and loungewear are now being viewed as an investment piece like a a Valentino dress or a pair of Gucci shoes. The lingerie we produce at Olyinka is not designed for your day to day, but perfectly designed for those special occasions when you would like to cozy indoors and play dressup. It is designed to make you feel glamorous, playful and sexy. So with this in mind we have put together some recommendations on how to make your bank holiday weekend a luxurious affair.
OUR 5 PAMPERING TIPS
Tip 1: Set time aside to Pamper
In the busyness of life we often tend to neglect ourselves, but it is so important to set time aside to pamper, preen and relax and I know what you're thinking "when do i have time to do this?" Well...this bank holiday weekend! Or alternatively, You could utilise your bath and shower time, just lock the door, put up a "do not disturb sign" so there are no interruptions and voila - "you" time!
Tip 2: Treat yourself to Bath or shower products
Ladies, reward yourself for all your hard work, because we know that you work hard and normally put others first so we suggest treating yourself to some gorgeous bath products. This will also help create the mood for your pampering session. See our recommendations below.
Tip 3: Exfoliate
An extension of tip 2 but an important part of your pampering sesh. Exfoliation is a cruicial part of your routine as it removes dead skin to reveal brand new fresh skin which is what you want to achieve - smooth, glowing skin. So ladies focus on those troublesome areas like elbows, knees and feet and your body will be feeling brand new.
Tip 4: Moisturise
This is the fun part of your routine, once you've emerged from your bath or shower apply a good body butter to your skin and to keep your skin super soft we advise not to towel dry yourself fully, just leave a little water and then apply the body butter to your damp skin. The water combined with the butter will absorb and seal into your skin keeping your body soft and supple for hours.
Tip 5: Apply fragrance
Cherry on top - To complete your routine, apply your favourite perfume so your body is not only soft, smooth and glowing but smells great also. Experts say the optimum areas you should apply fragrance for longevity is behind the ears, on your collarbone, hands, inside your elbows, behind your knees and ankles. Once your done, put you can now put on your favourite lingerie. We reccommend Olyinka - of course!

Notting Hill carnival is here! A beloved annual London event which has taken place since 1966. For two days in August - Sunday and Bank holiday Monday, people of all different races and cultures come together to celebrate Caribbean culture. This event attracts around one million people annually, making it one of the world's largest street festivals, So for those of you who are going, we have put together a guide on how to style your way through Carnival and make your experience fun and fuss free.
WEAR FLAT SHOES
A must! It will be a long day so heels are a no no . Trainers are our shoe of choice at these types of events - notable a stylish pair of Adidas or Converse but it can be anything that makes you feel comfortable and can endure for the whole day .
CARRY A BUM/SHOULDER BAG
Essential and practical - leave your valuables at home and bring the essentials - glitter. lipstick and a few coins to buy food and drink.
WEAR YOUR LINGERIE AS OUTERWEAR
Yaaaasss! This the perfect time to let any inhibitions go and wear your prettiest lingerie as outerwear. Could be your favourite bra, pair of silk shorts, cotton slip or bandeau, whatever you choose - be cute, stylish, bold and show off what your mama gave ya.
BE BRIGHT & BE WILD
Why oh why would you come to the carnival in grey, black or navy blue? It's all about colours baaaby - need to shine and be seen - glittler, sequins and all the colours of the rainbow is the costume of choice, even if you decide to throw on a t-shirt and jeans make sure its bright.
BRING A WHISTLE OR A PLASTIC HORN
People need to know you've arrived at Carnival to "Turn Up " translated means "Get Lit"! Translated means - have lots of fun! Blow that whistle girl!
BRING YOUR SUNGLASSES
The weather forecast for this bank holiday weekend is Sunny so it may get a little bright and not just from the sun, but from the constant smiling and the bright colours - it may dazzle at little, so if your eyes need a little rest - bring sunglasses and yes it's also a very stylish companion.
LEARN THE DUTTY WINE
Ok ladies, you may get accosted from some "friendly" carnival goers who will want to dance with you and start rubbing against you like a dog on heat - don't worry and don't panic. If it's not for you - just politely decline the offer and walk away, however if you're a little crazy (like us) you will join in what we call the "dutty wine or "dancehall" moves - translated as "dirty dancing" a mix of reggae tunes with sexy dance moves and is a huge part of Caribbean culture. Artists such as Rhianna have introduced this culture to the mainstream but if you are still a little unsure what it's all about check out Rhianna "Work" video below. it will give you some lovely examples of these "infamous" moves.
GRENFELL DISASTER - an important sidenote
With the disaster that occurred at the Grenfell tower, in the borough where Carnival held, it was debated as to whether the event should take place this year. People overwhelming voted in favour for it to go ahead and we're glad they did. With so much sadness and uncertainty in the air, the world needs to come together to spread love and joy. So If you do decide to go to Carnival this year, just for a moment - dance a little harder, blow your whistle a little louder and smile a little wider to honour those affected by the terrible tragedy.
Ok Ms Swift... Who did it? Who got you so upset that you came out with your new single like Beyonce with a baseball bat in Lemonde. Girrrrrl, what did they do to you ?
Taylor Swift's new single "Look what you made me do" was released this week after a long absence from the singer-songwriter, and people are already talking about who she could possibly be referring to in her new song. Could it be Kanye West and his tilted stage? Kim Kardashian or Katy Perry? Who knows and who cares but what made us chuckle is that the song implies (allegedly) that she did something to "whomever" she is referring to. Come to think of it, Kim and Kanye have been doing a lot of crying over the past year. So Ms Swift - what did they make you do? Well, whatever it was and jokes aside, we wish you all the best with the new single and forthcoming album. Dayyuuum girl!

I came across this interview recently which features my favourite people - Garance Doré a French blogger, illustrator and photographer who gives a unique insight into fashion, beauty, life and style via her blog Garance Doré and Drew Barrymore, wife, mother, accomplished actress, producer and director. Drew epitomises the type of beauty and philosophy we at Olyinka HQ promote - internal, joyful and positive. She gives some great advice - be your best self at any age, a smile is the best makeup and enjoy being a woman! We agree wholeheartedly Ms Barrymore. Great interview. Enjoy Ladies x
