Tracee Ellis Ross is awesome. Period. She has made a name for herself as a respected actress, comedian and human rights activist and has one of the most influential accounts on Instagram. Tracee also currently stars in the beloved and critically acclaimed series comedy Blackish as a wife and mother of 4 kids living in a predominantly white, upper-middle-class neighbourhood. She is also unapologetically funny, quirky, not afraid to laugh at herself and look silly - which we love. It's her time to shine and she is doing so beautifully. As an homage to Tracee, we have compiled a list of seven things we love about this lovely lady and we hope that you will love her as much as we do.
1. SHE LOVES HER CURVES
We love that Tracee embraces her body, she has booty and boobs and loves it but its wasn't always the case, she says in an interview “I love my butt in a way I didn’t growing up, I really didn’t like it growing up. It was so much bigger than everyone else’s, and I wanted jeans to look the way they did on everyone else, and mine didn’t.” Now Ms Ross does two important things for her body: “One, talk nice to it. And two, find workouts that make me feel good.” Yep advice we live for at Olyinka HQ.
3. SHE IS A HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST
Tracee is very vocal when it comes to human rights, and we love the fact that she is using her voice, power and platform to highlight matters such as Black Lives Matter and Take A knee. She has hosted Black girls Rock a non profit organisation empowering Black girls to lead, innovate, and serve.. She also uses her show Blackish to bring to the fore social issues facing people of colour which is a really important in this Trump Era. You go girl!

7. HER MUM IS DIANA ROSS.... Mic drop
Tracee's family is super talented and they have all made a name for themselves in their field but to mention Tracee without mentioning her amazing mother would be ignoring the butterfly in the room. In an interview with Essence magazine she says that her mother didn't treat her and her siblings as if they had a silver spoon.
"I understand how extraordinary my childhood was, and that my mother’s gift and all of the people who’ve loved her [have afforded me] the opportunities I have," she also remarks, "I also had a really great mom. We had a lot, and as much as I knew that everybody didn’t live that way, she didn’t raise us with a sense of entitlement."
"She used to say things like, 'Oh no, no, no, I worked for all of this,'" she added, laughing. "'This is mine and I’m not leaving any of it to you. I’m going to spend it, so you’d better get a job, little girl.' now that's good parenting. Check out Tracee's homage to her mum's 1981 Work That Body Video. below.
